On Friday, January 16th, 2026, we will be holding the grand opening of our new store, " Sumiyaki Unafuji Fukuoka Daimyo Bettei," our first store in the Kyushu area, in Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Sumiyaki Unafuji , opening in Daimyo, Fukuoka, is a one-of-a-kind space that makes use of an over 100-year-old traditional Japanese house and the office area, which retains the romantic atmosphere of the Taisho era. The tasteful design, with a pond in the courtyard, creates an extraordinary experience. Enjoy rare blue eel grilled over 1000°C charcoal and a luxurious experience woven together with the historic building. Please enjoy the "moment of good fortune" that can only be experienced here

Sumiyaki Unafuji delivers the "real eel experience" from Nagoya to the whole country
Founded in Nagoya in 1995, Sumiyaki Unafuji is an authentic eel specialty restaurant that has been selected as a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide. As the founder used to work for an aquaculture feed manufacturer, he has always valued relationships of trust with producers and has maintained a sincere approach to the ingredients
Our specialty is using extra-large blue eels, which are larger than average, and grilling them in one go over charcoal at temperatures exceeding 1000°C, a method unique to Nagoya. The skin is fragrant, the meat is plump, and the fat melts in your mouth
Currently, we are expanding our stores to Kanto, Tokai, Kinki, and Kyushu in order to spread Nagoya's eel culture throughout the country. With respect for producers and pride in our techniques, we are delivering an "authentic eel experience" all over Japan
